Instructions for setting up your NIXLE account for Carter County.
Go to www.nixle.com and click on the "Register Now. It's quick and simple." button.
You will be prompted to enter a username, password, email address and cell phone numbers.
On the next page you will be asked to enter your home address. If your home address is not within the Nixle database system, that is ok. Your physical address is not as important as your cell phone number and email address.
If the system tells you that it cannot locate an address try typeing in the intersection closest to your home. (See illistration at right.)
If the system gives you multiple addresses to choose from, click one. Remember, your physical address is not as important.

If you would like, you can skip all the other information requested by Nixle.

After you have completed all the above, you will then be taken to your home page.
At this point you should see Carter County Emergency Management listed. Make sure that it is selected so that you may receive updates from us.

Next you will want to click on the settings tab.

After clicking the settings tab you will see a drop down box next to the Carter County Emergency Management name.
If you would like to receive all messages sent by us you will need to select the bottom catagory. This should include, "Advisorys, Community, and Traffic." If you do not select all catagories you will not receive test text messages. Don't forget to hit the save button.
